With Bishop McAlilly
Sunday June 11th, 2017 – 5:30 PM
COULD IT BE THAT SIMPLE?
What if I told you that I was going to join you and your neighbors for Sunday supper? Would you know your neighbors’ meal preferences? Their phone numbers? Their names?
Many of you will remember a time when you could easily answer these questions in the affirmative. You may recall growing up in neighborhoods where football teams were created on the fly in front yards. Where riding bikes on sunny days, and playing board games on rainy ones were things you could count on doing with neighborhood friends. Where borrowed cups of sugar and shared meals and prayers happened on a regular basis.
All of these things taught us good life lessons – from getting along with others, to using creativity and sharing what we have. Maybe we were exemplifying the Gospel without even knowing it. Could it be that simple?
This year’s Annual Conference gathering will focus on loving where we live, and how we are sent by God into our own communities to serve one another. It’s that focus that will drive our ministries forward as we remember our mission to:
“discover, equip, connect and send lay and clergy leaders who shape congregations that offer Jesus Christ to a hurting world, one neighborhood at a time.”
On Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 5:30 pm, you’re invited to experience Bishop McAlilly’s opening presentation “Sent to Serve” via a remote webcast held at one of seven local site churches.
At the event, you’ll enjoy a delicious dessert and coffee buffet, powerful worship, an inspirational message by the Bishop, and facilitated conversation with brothers and sisters in Christ.
Our congregation will attend the webcast at: Fellowship UMC 2511 New Salem Hwy. Murfreesboro, TN 37128. Bring your fellow congregants and Sunday school classmates to be inspired and challenged. To register, write your name on the sign-up sheet posted in the Information Booth or email Jenny Shelton at firstname.lastname@example.org by June 1, 2017.
